August 25 is right around the corner!

Wow! How quick summer does fly! We are working hard for the arrival of our students on August 25! There are a few back to school reminders I'd like for you to remember.

First, remember our school supply packs are now for sale. They are $20 and contain all of the supplies requested by our classroom teachers. We have a limited number of these bags available so call the office to have your bag ready for pickup at open house!

Second, class lists will not be published on the front door of the school as year's past. This year, your child will receive a post card by mail with his or her teacher assignment for the upcoming year. You can expect to receive these no later than the week before school starts.

Third, Open House will be held Monday, Aug. 24. We will hold two sessions for parents. You can choose the session that meets the needs of your family. Session one will be from 4:30 - 5:15. Session two will be from 5:30 - 6:15. Bus drivers, day care, and PTE representatives will be available in the front lobby of the school in order to answer any questions you may have. Also, we will be selling Chic-fil-A meals for $4.50 each in the cafeteria from 5-7pm. All proceeds will support various student programs throughout the year so plan to dine with us on this busy night!

Again, we look forward to seeing all students on Tuesday, Aug. 25! Enjoy your final few weeks of summer!

  1. What is the reason behind mailing out classroom assignments this year instead of posting them? Our kids (and even us parents) have always enjoyed getting to see who it going to be in our child's class and with all the budget cuts, it doesn't make a lot of sense as to why now we are spending money on postage when we could be putting that money to better use somewhere else. Is this a privacy issue? Just something new? Just a curious mom...

  2. I will be happy to answer this question for you. There are some privacy issues at work here and posting lists has caused a few unnecessary issues in the past. We are mailing post cards to save on postage, which is nearly half the cost of traditional mailings. We hope the same excitement will occur when children come to open house and discover who their classmates are for the upcoming year. Thanks for your feedback! I hope this helps explain things. Feel free to contact me with further questions.
